We left Ketchum/Sun Valley behind us yesterday and headed north to Salmon. Our drive followed the Salmon River through gorgeous sweeping high prairie, surrounded by the jagged Sawtooth Mountains. Both of us commented that it finally felt like we were in Idaho!  Our faithful Ford F-150 ("Bessie") made it through Galena Pass (8,200+ feet) without a whimper. She made us proud.

In Salmon, we stayed at a wonderful RV park called Heald's Haven, run by (of course) Connie Heald. She and her husband moved here in 1969 and have nurtured a small little park, on the banks of the Salmon River. It's quiet,  with deer wandering through (there is one coming toward our window right now!)

We have some good hints from local folks as to where we might catch some fish, so we're off!
