Ba-Ha-Ba Maine

Yes, today we arrived at the Atlantic Ocean. We have driven all the way across the United States in only 11 weeks, and 9,500 miles of driving. From what we have seen so far, this is a magnificent country!

Today we woke up in Bar Harbor, Maine (pronounced Ba-Ha-Ba by the locals). It is beautifully sunny and warm, the town has emptied of what I am sure are choking summer crowds, and life is good here.

Jack started pining (or was it whining) for a lobster dinner about a year ago.  We tried to get one for his birthday dinner, but were sorely disappointed when Ruth Chris Steak House in Portland sold their last two to the table before us. They comp'd us a dessert, but it was a very sad evening. Tonight, Jack got his wish! We sat out on the deck above the harbor and he had at it.  (I had a salad...not sure I can tolerate lobster)

Just moments ago, this guy was alive and kicking
But this bibbed guy doesn't care!!!
We are taking a 3-day breather here, some time off from driving.  There is a free Island Shuttle that will take us just about anywhere on the island, so we don't even have to drive. Nice. :)
